Current Project



CCJP is currently working with Parishes under the Project for Political Education and Advocacy in the Archdiocese of Harare.
The aim of the project is to ensure that the local population actively participate in promoting cohesion and reconciliation in their communities.

Project Objectives:
1. For participants in the Archdiocese of Harare to actively address the disintegration and polarisation in their communities.
2. For the local church, political and traditional leaders to be empowered to implement strategies that promote community cohesion.

Our Activities Under this Project will include:

Under Objective 1:

• Conducting management and transformation training for justice and peace committees;
• Conducting community trauma healing sessions;
• Distributing flyers and posters on the role of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC);
• Conducting a sensitisation campaign on the role and function of the NPRC for justice and peace committees and traditional leaders;
• Community mapping on existing peace building and reconciliation strategies and initiatives;
• Developing an assessment tool to collect date on the fulfilment of the NPRC’s constitutional mandate.

Under Objective 2:

• Conducting training on Catholic Social Teaching for traditional leaders;
• Conducting community research for policy briefs for lobbying activities;
• Carrying out lobbying and advocacy activities at community level;
• Carrying out lobbying activities by communities vis-à-vis national parliamentary committees;
• Carrying out lobbying activities to address discrimination in the communities.
